Qualifications and experience

The staff at the Laurels have a great amount of experience and expertise in caring for older adults. The senior social care supporters have been employed at the Laurels for many years and all have City & Guilds NVQ's level 2 or above in Health & Social Care. They are supported by social care supporters who have completed both the Laurels and the National Training Organisation for Social Care (Skills for Care) induction program which includes a period of supervised practice. Approximately 50% of the social care supporters have or are working towards a NVQ in care, level 2 or 3. In addition, to the rolling program of staff training, they also have yearly updates in client safer moving and handling, first aid, health and safety and fire safety training. Some of the staff have first aid at work certificates. The social care supporters, at the Laurels, have the skills and expertise to deliver the care which the Laurels offers to provide.
